Korean Jeans are a new Boston/Chicago-based duo composed of drummer/guitarist Neal Markowski and tuba goddess/bassist Beth McDonald. Their self-titled debut is a labor of love, a curmudgeonly love for raw sound and space that cuts through the televisual pastiche, sonic quotations, and reverbed excess that characterize much of DIY today. From primitive cracks and thuds, electroacoustic deliberations, to rumbling math-rock grooves, every move is a streak of silver in a crude room.
