The first week of November has turned out to be overwhelmingly packed with awesome things to see and intriguing places to go.
Hopefully you’ve managed to check off all your spots on your GO-TO list,
But with First Fridays, A multitude of open studios and several other events, such as at Mobius, there was probably no way you were at all these places at once
below are some snippets from a quick visit to First Fridays//
per usual, the studios were open for the public–

Miller Yezerski’s new project space at room 309A also hosted a second installment of Aint Bad Magazine‘s event

A skip across the sidewalk lands you at a space that usually sells flooring and other industrial items- but every first friday, David Bavelsky takes over WD Flooring and turns it into a formal gallery space by the name of Something Felix:
This is what the space looked like for their halloween show with artist Max Bard:

A few steps from Felix, we find an interesting scene where SMFA Graduate Student Tinsley Hammond decided to forgo the traditional showing model that we were surrounded by at 450, and set up a human scale pop up gallery of her own right on the street — a well considered gesture at an appropriate venue — and it generated some interesting conversations about institutions, the market and the nature of the work

It goes on to some really great portraits at Carroll and Sons by Karl Stevens
an awesome Penn Young show at Samson
& a number of other notable exhibitions.
Full listings of galleries and their current exhibitions are available HERE
What I’m trying to say is: DON’T MISS FIRST FRIDAYS IN DECEMBER.
