Boston artists of color face racial, social, and identity biases, from racism and sexism to essentialization and classification of genre or medium, which makes it difficult for them to sustain their art practice. The P.U.S.H. lecture amplifies varying perspectives on how creatives of color are navigating Boston’s art and culture ecosystems in order to find success. Proceeds from the lecture will go to support ‘The Prelude,” a program which connects artists of color to creative placemaking opportunities in Boston neighborhoods.
