Todays performance is the second in a series of nine where Phelan and Malverde will be located at the ICA’s main entrance for a day. Vela says “we are the watchers, the protectors, and the guardians of the ICA”.
Vela Phelan, Boston based performance artist, won the ICA’s James and Audrey Foster prize this year for his series Obscurus Fidem. This series consists of 9 performances, where he investigates the way that materialism, devotion, and technology interact through honoring the Mexican folk legend Malverde.
