Hassle Fest has reached year #9. Not bad for a festival that has always waded exclusively in the experimental, independent, and emerging artistic shallows of the musical ocean.
Hassle Fest is Boston Hassle & BRAIN Arts’ annual celebration of underground music and art as it lives and breathes in Boston, MA. The fest itself is a microcosm of the work that BRAIN Arts does each and every day bringing engaging and thought provoking art and music to the people of the Boston area. And with this year’s fest we have an emerging DOOZIE of a weekend on our hands.
Joining us from the depths…
Baltimore ecstatic electronics guru Dan Deacon presides over Night 1 (11/10) rekindling the fire of the many legendary Hassle shows he played in days past (we organized his first 6 or 7 shows in Boston nbd).
Ohio art punk overlords Pere Ubu (Official) preside over Night 2 (11/11) bringing their offbeat funk to Somerville for intermingling with the assembled cast of characters and sounds.
Also confirmed as of this writing are a beautiful assortment of underground performers from all over this USofA, the following a list that will grow and grow and grow over the coming month or so:
- Xiu Xiu (CA)
- Ono (IL)
- Pill (NY)
- Erica Eso (NY)
- Trinary System (MA, members of Mission of Burma)
- Buck Gooter (VA)
- Sunburned Hand of the Man (MA, celebrating 20 years as a band)
- Obnox (OH)
- Creative Healing (MA)
- Pink Navel (MA)
- Sidney Gish (MA)
- Ed Balloon (MA)
