Cheap Seats is not your average Open Mic/ variety show. Put on by a team of performers and artists including: Alex Quilon, Eric Haygun, Vatic Kuumba, & Tauhida Aktar Maryam Akhi; the 39th rendition of this show is set up to be the best yet.
In Rapid Fire Succession performers spend 5 minutes in the spotlight performing to reveal their most artistic selves to an all-ages crowd. Center stage, from the rafters and in the balcony, novices and veterans alike will share the spotlight in an anticipated evening of diverse performance art.
The featured performer at this particular event is Vatic Kuumba who will read adapted excerpts from his play ‘A Furtive Movement: The Use of Farce’. Slam Poet, MC, Activist, and Playwright from Providence, Kuumba’s new play is set in an alternate future that parallels present day, commenting on race, social media, and the ripple effect of the death of one person. He will read an adapted version from 5-7pm before the performances begin.
