This show is a tribute to the fading face of penmanship… As cursive faces possible extinction in our depressingly digital world LOT F GALLERY, MEREDITH KASABIAN (of Boston beautifiers BEST DRESSED SIGNS) and the PRE-VINYLITE SOCIETY are celebrating work by 20 of the best sign painters from around the world. Historically, beautiful penmanship has been an indicator of virtue and civility, but aesthetics aside, the art of hand lettering continues to communicate more than just words.
Almost everybody aches for something; solitude, celebrity, justice, true love, maybe all of the above. How can we get what we want? With a GUN of course!
Head out to the Lincoln Arts Project in Waltham tonight and meet 9 pioneering artists who each have fashioned their own weapons of means. Learn survivalist skills from Abigail Newbold, camouflage techniques from J.R. Uretsky, revolution organizing from Elaine Bay, coded communication from Sophia Ainslie and improvised munitions from Karley Klopfenstein plus many more (well..four more actually).
