Never written for bostonhassle.com but always wanted to? Now’s your chance!
This year, in addition to reviving our tradition of publishing year-end pieces that look back on art, culture, and weirdness in our (somewhat) fair city in the past 12 months, we’re going to be holding a contest for all of our extended family!
If you’re [not currently one of our writers], we’re inviting you to send us YOUR thoughts on the year 2019, be it a top ten list, a short essay, a video, a playlist, a photo series, or whatever else inspires YOU.
We will judge the submissions and post the ones we love the most; the ones that best represent the scene of 2019. Out of those, we will choose 1 winner per section (music, art, film, & EXTRA).
Those four lucky peeps will receive free entry to one show of their choice in 2020 and a personalized gift from their respective section editor. Additionally, anyone who submits a Year Ender will be offered permanent spots among our ragtag team of writers! For more info on the contest, dear friend, see below!
HOW TO WRITE A YEAR ENDER:
Look back at 2019. What kinds of music or art did you see? What changes did you notice in your neighborhood? Who came onto your radar, and who fell off it? Put these thoughts in a form that can be posted on the Boston Hassle website. We will accept any combination of words, pictures, video, streaming sound files, and HTML.
As for text, we will accept longform and shortform pieces as well as “top ten” lists, however, bear in mind that there are –
3 things that improve every piece:
– Streaming video/ music
