A couple months ago, I hesitantly moved from Boston to Brooklyn, but the past couple months have been nothing short of dreamy. So. Many. Shows. And if I didn’t know any better, I’d think Boston was having just as much trouble letting go of me, as I was having trouble letting go of it, with shows from Guerilla Toss, Krill (RIP), The Channels, Potty Mouth, Ursula… It’s as if the Boston music scene was constantly tapping me on the shoulder and letting me know, “Hey man, don’t worry. You’re only a hop, skip, and a jump away…” #grateful.
One major benefit to living in NYC is that I finally get to attend CMJ. Armed with what knowledge of the DIY music scene I had from my time in Boston, I vowed to support and rep hard at CMJ. Here are my top picks for showcases and artists to be sure to check out while devouring your way through CMJ.
Good Morning is from Melbourne. I can’t tell you I know exactly when I’ll be seeing them, but I can guarantee you, I’ll be seeing them. This EP has been helping me get through the past few rough Monday mornings. Gotta tell them thanks for that.
