Thu 9/27 – Sat 9/29 Illegally Blind Presents Boston Fuzzstival 2018 featuring Lina Tullgren, Bad History Month, Lane Shi Otayonii, The Monsieurs, DUMP HIM, La Neve, Blue Ray, What Cheer?, Olden Yolk, Anna Fox Rochinski, Oompa, Lady Pills, Edge Petal Burn, and many more! @Lilypad + ONCE All Ages $12-15/day (see listings for more info)

Jason Trefts is a true curator of the local underground and September is his chance to flex his already mighty booking muscles to bring together the eclectic lineup known only as Boston Fuzzstival. For any locals, Fuzzstival is an annual staple. Bands that all fall under the very wide umbrella of fuzzy garage and basement based rock ‘n roll come together to melt our faces and re-affirm why we all call Boston home.

This year’s fest takes place across three days: 9/27 @ Lilypad and 9/28-29 @ ONCE. While the spectrum here is wide, there’s something comforting about Fuzzfest in that you know what’s on the docket is bound to contain some level of distorted, noisy scrawl. Still, this year has some lighter fare with Anna Fox Rochinsky of Quilt, Olden Yolk, and La Neve. Also up to bat is local hip hop hero Oompa and big band collective What Cheer? Brigade. Of course fest staples like the mighty Monsieurs (fresh off their stint opening for the Foos at Fenway), NICE GUYS, and Bong Wish also make appearances alongside many, many more.

Like some sort of distorted family reunion, this annual gathering of local heads, music makers, fans, and freaks plays out like a dream. Sure, rents keep rising and it seems like every week there’s another reason to wanna get outta Dodge, but for some reason we all keep sticking around. This is your reminder why.
