BIG 3 ART: Bread and Puppet

by

Bread and Puppet comes to Cambridge: 9/8 @3PM in Cambridge Common

Join in on this last get together of Cambridge’s Summer in the City series with a show from Bread and Puppet Theater. Hailing from far up in the Northeast Kingdom, Vermont, B&P brings critical and radical ideas to viewers through larger than life handmade puppets crafted from papier-mache.

The show they will be performing is “The Grasshopper Rebellion Circus”, and they are serious when they say it’s going to be a circus! Along with a spectacle of puppets, get prepared to see rehearsed song and dance numbers, massive waving banners, and big beautiful backdrops while a wacky pitband accompanies one of the most passionate, radical, whimsically zany performances you’ll ever see. This multi-disciplinary show culminates into a heroic story dating back to 1386 AD, when a group of peasants overthrew a state-of-the-art army of over 4000 soldiers.

Be inspired to resist and make change with the legendary Peter Schumann, founder of Bread and Puppet. This FREE show will take place in Cambridge Common, just north of the Harvard Square T stop, starting at 3pm.

If you would like to join the puppet parade, show up 45 minutes early dressed in white!
