It’s local flavor — literallyyyy. Brought to you by EIC Sophie Lou (a human who likes to cook but has no experience making YouTube videos) and the enigmatic Huck Vaughan (a human with lots of experience making videos who has never had Greek pizza), our cooking show promises to be every bit as charmingly disheveled, boisterous, and rough-around-the-edges as the Boston Hassle and the region that inspires it. Serving up New England recipes and history with a side order of fuckshit, it’s Thee Dirtbag Test Kitchen.

Welcome to Thee Dirtbag Test Kitchen–a New England-centric history/cooking show where the food is as bizarre, culty, and magical as the delightfully shitty region I get to call home. We all know NE isn’t exactly known for its ~culinary impact~, but folks like me are proud of our strange food legacy, in spite of having nowhere to get a decent taco.

In the December episode of our humble show, we’re making Greek pizza! If you’ve never had a NE–or Greek–slice before, let it be known, this ain’t yr average food blog fare. Save your artichokes and fancy olives for Martha Stewart. Greek pizza is a New England delicacy (read: monstrosity) both beloved and reviled for its interesting take on sauce, cheese, and crust. Made right, it’s a delicious, oregano-scented grease-and-cheese bomb. Made wrong, it’s, well… ask a New Englander.

We’re gonna talk about how Greek pizza came to be by examining Greek immigration and cultural impact in our beloved region as we work through sauce, cheese, and crust. By the time the shit comes out the oven, we’ll hopefully have some context as to why Greek pizza is so unique and ubiquitous in these six special states.

(Note: a lot of this research was done on the INTERNET so we’re really hoping 4 accuracy, but we’re also a homespun cooking show so pls don’t be mad if we miss the mark.)
