How does an adventure to Worcester, to explore an old mill from the 1800’s that’s been taken over by an ambitious and contemporary arts initiative, sound? (probably a little wordy imo, that’s a run on sentence)

Get yourself on the commuter rail tonight to witness a dynamic array of work by Boston transplants & Worcester natives

Don’t miss opening night performances by

Ian Deleon (also performed at TODO BAJO CONTROL)

thelonghallgallery & big6bearcat have some very interesting ideas on what it means to be a contemporary artist in New England today, and how to support them.

This juried show is the first taste of an extensive project–  &&Hassle’s/diggingthe/tension

the long hall gallery and BIG6BEARCAT proudly announce:
alarm;alarm

thelonghallgallery is an upcoming gallery and exhibition space in worcester, ma. the gallery occupies a 4000sqft space within a mill built in the late 1880’s, located in gateway park at 99 prescott st.

thelonghallgallery focuses on contemporary art practices which showcase the new emerging faces in the art world.

big6bearcat is a collaborative artist group. both members, diana walsh and corinna d’schoto, were raised and are currently based in Boston. Their work is combination of creating, curating and celebrating painting, sculpture, and installation that playfully addresses and examines our relationship with, and assumptions about, the material//electronic world and the social role of objects.

together, big6bearcat and thelonghallgallery announce.. alarm;alarm, the premier show of thelonghallgallery. alarm;alarm is a group show exploring tension in both artworks and art making itself. the show focuses on artists who work outside the comfort of academia and organized art making institutions. the artists exhibiting continue their practices outside the encouraging energy and external push of these environments. additionally the works shown survey the different tensions art in itself can create; either via tension derived of performance, material, narrative and/or presentation. Celebrating both new and traditional art practices, the show provides a wide array of media exploration. as the premier group show of thelonghallgallery, alarm;alarm also aims to establish the gallery as a source of emerging, contemporary art viewing for the greater worcester area. we love tension; &&& wehopeyoudo/too.
