Expansive, enduring drone illuminates this wet, grey Friday after weeks of oppressive heat. Terence Hannum’s latest marks his first solo full-length, a cohesive break from his prolific cassette output in the last year and his participation as one third of avant-metal outfit Locrian. The lightest metallic cymbal blast introduces the excerpt below – a drizzle, and then it opens from the inside, moving further in, finding stacks and stacks of synthetic matter coalesce into a contained, pulsating organism. One hears the long notes, stretched out over each other like the tautest string, feeding off of the others’ tension, and vibrating a dissonant community of tone and texture.
