THE CHANNELS have been at least a couple of different bands over the course of their existence here in the underground of Bostron (Boston). Here as a three piece (current or former pieces of GUERILLA TOSS, AYKROYD, and SIZE QUEEN) these tainted fellows are heavier than ever, settling more and more into their post-punk & noise rock hybrid zone. I think that this track is a small piece of a slowly incoming whole, but don’t quote me on that. Do quote me in saying that “Happens Every Time” is a heavily groovy noise-pop burner. Basically, this is exactly the kind of rhythmic throb of a song that I want to hear pouring from a basement as I approach. THE CHANNELS are an aggregate of several underground sounds that have, in the now, matured into their own heaving mess of a thing. This track does a decent job of capturing the body-moving strangeness of the band in the live setting, but I suggest you go on and check them out in that context anyway. Definitely whetting my appetite for more from THE CHANNELS. Keep em’ peeled.
