Talents known and new will be on-screen and in-house for the MFA’s ten-day, six-film series exploring recent developments in Hong Kong’s resurgent cinema scene. Given zero overlap in programming, this mini-festival is the perfect warm-up for the larger and comparatively overstuffed New York Asian Film Festival, which features several recent Hong Kong hits that won’t make it to the MFA just yet. But even by itself – from BLIND DETECTIVE (2013) (the latest film from HK’s hottest director, Johnnie To, as well as its reigning superstar, Andy Lau) to Dante Lam‘s blockbusting martial arts drama UNBEATABLE (2013) – this sequence of enchantments will cast a potent spell.
