In celebration of the cinematography of Haskell Wexler, the Brattle is showing this emotionally explosive classic, based on the play of the same name. Set on the campus of a small New England college, George and Martha (Liz Taylor and Richard Burton in performances too impressive for words) host an intimate dinner party with a younger couple, which turns into an alcohol-fueled emotional battle. As the party simultaneously escalates and deteriorates, old wounds reopen and new truths come forward for both couples.
