I am a FIRM believer that music is seasonal. You won’t see blasting Bob Marley in my shitbox car with the windows up wearing a hat and scarf as I navigate Boston’s treacherous snow covered obstacles in the middle of winter that’s for sure. My point is that sometimes you gotta let the weather drive your mood and TONIGHT is a great place to start with alt leaning indie pop over at Allston favorite O’Briens. Sure there aren’t mounds of snow everywhere yet and we aren’t quite in the midst of what promises to be Hell Winter v.2 but that doesn’t mean the colder weather and bitter breeze aren’t already instilling a frigid sensibility to our musical cravings. As such, you should totally come check out the soulful, fuzzy pop rock of U.S Girls who are joined by Washington D.C. based surf poppers Escape-ism. Boston is on the bill too (obvi) and keeps things a little heavier with the guitar lick driven halfsour and the stringy solo fueled, comforting operas of Mini Dresses. This is the time of year to put on your headphones and a sweater and cozy up to your favorite melodic jams so why not come out for the real thing. You’ll melt despite the cold.
