Michelle Frank, a Harvard Neuroscience PhD student and science policy blogger, heads up a free, two-week short course on the role of science in a skeptical society, surveying science’s role in today’s political moment. Enrollment is open to all. From the course site:

There’s no doubt that science occupies a special place in the landscape of human knowledge. And yet it’s also become abundantly clear that science’s special status isn’t something that can be taken for granted. What is the basis for trust in scientific knowledge, and what happens when public trust in science–or scientists–breaks down? From controversies over vaccines and GMOs to last spring’s March for Science, we’ll dive into what makes science so special, the origins of scientific controversies, and strategies for communicating science effectively even on politically charged topics.

This course is designed to be relevant to scientific researchers and anyone curious about science communication or the broader role of science in society.
