Containing some of Arnie’s best one liners, Paul Verhoeven’s rollicking Martian adventure is being presented tonight for free as part of the MFA’s series celebrating the film adaptions of visionary sci-fi writer Phillip K. Dick. In the not too distant future, Douglas Quaid (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has reoccurring dreams about traversing the Mars landscape, instigating his decision to take a memory trip through Rekall, a vacation company that installs memory implants for people to escape. But it all goes horribly wrong as the procedure blows Quaid’s cover as a secret agent with highly sensitive information about the red planet. Finding himself on the run, he goes to Mars to find the truth. Or does he? Delivering awesome, brutal action sequences after another, Total Recall entertains with a visceral punch and a wonderfully subjective storyline. What are you waiting for? Get your ass to Mars.
