Lani Asuncion will be performing Standing in Places of Stories Told, part of the Human Garden Series exhibiting from September 17-28th. This is a participatory performance with an OPEN CALL. Each participant will be invited to perform in this piece during the opening on September 22 & Sunday, September 23.
This call for participants is for the submission of stories from experiences of displacement as immigrants and/or decedents of immigrants, experiences of gentrification among local Boston neighborhoods, and describe the different degrees and negotiations of assimilation. The artists wants to create a human garden of stories that connect people to each other throughout the city of Boston.
About the whole exhibition –
This performance is a part of the Human Garden exhibition at Spaceus’ Roslindale location curated by Isabel Beavers
“Artists in the first iteration of Mapping Worlds investigate spaces in which to recast narrative, uncover hidden stories and propose new solutions. The work links mapping to the creation of of our world by way of labor, queerness, and shared histories. How do we reclaim our stories through a survey and declaration of space?”
