Motherwise is a five-piece, all non-male indie rock band originating from Boston, MA. Drawing inspiration from a diverse array of sources, the band’s unique sound creates a captivating experience both live and on recording. Their esoteric use of odd meter grooves and unusual textures are inspired by the audio-visual synesthesia of the band’s frontperson Kris McCarthy. The group was formed in their second semester at Berklee College of Music and features Kris McCarthy on guitar, keys, and vocals, Soph Reyes on bass, Daisy Soper on drums, Kalika Reece on trombone, and Rianna Kopcho on guitar. The band’s debut record, Shark Teeth, was released in February 2022 and was featured on Sound of Boston’s Listen Local mix.
