Recent Projects by the AgX Film Collective @ CCTV

Thu, Jun 30 2016 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Free

Come to Cambridge Community Television for an evening of recent, experimental videos and 16mm films made by members of the AgX Film Collective! You’ll see a diverse selection of works that showcase alternative cinematic techniques to evoke emotion and meaning outside the realms of traditional narrative and documentary filmmaking.

Films start at 7:00pm. Informal Q&A with filmmakers to follow. Come by at 6:00pm for the opening gallery exhibition of CCTV’s DSLR Photography class!

A co-production of AgX and CCTV, this event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

PROGRAM:

Tumble (Robert Todd / 2015 / 16mm)
Another form of falling: rolling, as the world crashes down around you…

Dos Corrienties (Two Currents) (Kimberly Forero-Arnias / 2015 / 16mm)
In swells of comfort and friction, tourist eyes navigate the foreign and the intimate.

Nova Remnants (Stefan Grabowski / 2016 / Digital)
A nova remnant consists of matter left behind by a cataclysmic nuclear explosion, causing the intense and sudden brightening of a star. Due to the relatively short timespan over which they occur, nova remnants generally no longer exist by the time their light reaches us on Earth.

Analysis of Pleasure (Christina Hunt / 2012 / 16mm to Digital)

Moments from Fall (Christina Hunt / 2013 / 16mm to Digital)
The fall into a deep internal processing of one’s past becomes a repetitive act on the verge of over analysis, revealing and breaking down layers. Submerged in the gravity of life changes one is pushed to step forward to a free fall. Yielding control, sharing visions of a present experience, the journey becomes an aesthetic release from formality, a lightness of being.

Message to Humanity (Ernesto Livon-Grosman / 2008 / Digital)
Roberto Cignoni. Poetry reading, Performance, Archival Footage.

Vertical Wholed or Fuck You Whitey (Nicolas Brynolfson / 2016 / 35mm to Digital)
A reconstruction of a 35mm print that was cut in half for 16mm slug. A re-photographed double projection to restore the original vertical frame. Richard Pryor (Live in Concert) re-seen as a an agit-prop flicker film. All power to the people.

As Near As Light (Susan DeLeo / 2014 / Super 8 to Digital)
A visual haiku of an ephemeral and potent journey into the unconscious through hand manipulated super 8mm film. It combines sound with imagery to create a trance-like state and glimpse into the realm of fleeting memories.

Long Way From Home (Stefan Grabowski / 2013 / Digital)
One may attempt to make sense of the world as it rushes by, or choose to lose themselves in the omnidirectional swirls of shadow and light.
