Taking the phrase “you are what you eat” literally, Delicatessen is a weirdly well done mix of horror, comedy and bon appetite. Following some sort of cataclysm, the tenants of an apartment building in France try to get by in a world where the scarcity of food turns it into a form of currency. In order to make sure his business never closes, a local butcher lures the unemployed seeking work to his shop whereupon he “adds” them to the meat for sale. When a down on his luck circus clown comes strolling in, the butcher assumes he has another victim. Too bad his daughter has the hots for the clown. It could make for awkward dinner conversation. Also plays Nov. 25 and 27.
