ARTIST TALK: Joiri Minaya – Gazing Back

Thu, Apr 18 2019 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

Join visual artist Joiri Minaya as she discusses her latest exhibit, “Gazing Back”. Currently showing in Boston University’s University Hall, “Gazing Back” is a combination of artworks ranging over diverse mediums. Minaya’s most recent work is focused on the intersection of various minority identities and the way those identities influence her interaction with the world around her. Often using elements of sexuality, race, and anti-colonialist perspective to challenge the “gaze” of those in positions of power, Minaya’s work is as raw and provocative as it is visually beautiful.

For a more in depth perspective on Minaya’s work and the artist’s influences, please visit the event website.
