Join the Harvard Ed Portal for a reception celebrating the latest Crossings Gallery exhibition, In Over My Head. Using photography, audio, and archival material, In Over My Head forms a complex narrative that is rooted in the labor of a specific person and place, but is also inherently fictional. Even as it captures artist Thalassa Raasch’s experience of digging graves, grieving the recent deaths of her uncle and grandmother, and living with gravedigger Everard and his family, the material aspires to transform the barrens of northern Maine into an imagined River Styx. In doing so, Raasch, A.B. ’10, envisions a place where death is beautiful, comfortable, difficult, and humorous but also an accepted, quotidian fact.
Open October 15th-November 21st
