Continuing its weekend series of horror films featuring unthinkable loss followed by even worse terror, Coolidge Corner Theatre presents the enfant terrible Danish director Lars Von Trier and his most controversial film to date. In an effort to recuperate after a tragedy, a husband and wife (Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg) travel to their isolated cabin in the forest. Immediately upon arriving, strange and disturbing events begin taking place while the married couple’s relationship begins to unravel, which is putting it mildly. Full of incredibly stark images of visual beauty and eye turning brutality, the movie will certainly give you an experience. Watch it in 35mm and you’ll probably never look at scissors the same way again.
