Anjimile (mixtape release show), Hollow Deck(w mass), Grandmother Miracles

Fri, Jan 25 8:00 pm - 11:30 pm $10

Dorchester Art Project

Folk aint boring when the musicians making the folk music aren’t boring. Anjimile certainly isn’t boring, Their music isn’t just folk either, but none of the artists on this bill are strictly folk. Folk is just the common thread. Anjimile’s voice is just magical, and their songwriting, folk pop, indie pop, whatever, is creative and has just been getting better year after year. A truly singular Boston pop hearthrob.
Hollow Deck are Bostonian by origin, but now reside in Western MA (old story). They’ve been called the most exciting live band in Western MA by none other than Byron Coley (damn Gina!). Pastoral noise and shed in the fog on the beach electronics & folk will greet you from this pair. Ex-Guerilla Toss, Ex-Boston Conservatory. Dust From 1000 Years is one of Allston’s premier bummer rock artists, a rock definitely infused w/ some folk (don’t worry). They will be sure to thicken the atmosphere at DAP. Grandmother Miracles starts it off, and their folk is blanketed in a warmly psychedelic soul that can be truly magical. JP-icalia? Probably not, but get there early to hear Vincent Taino’s special music anyway.
