Back in 1992, after David Fincher dominated MTV with numerous visually striking music videos, he was given the reins by 20th Century Fox to direct another entry in the Alien franchise. When all was all said and done a frustrated Fincher withdrew from filmmaking following a terrible experience making the movie due to studio interference, being unable to fully illustrate his vision. Though he wouldn’t come unto his own until directing Se7en 3 years later, Fincher’s unique flair and style can still be observed in this feature debut. Set immediately after the events of Aliens, constant Xenomorph survivor Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) crash lands on an isolated planet used as a prison colony. She also brought something with her. When men start disappearing Ripley realizes the cause and what must be done. Also plays tomorrow night.
