Andersson’s so-called Living Trilogy concludes with a chapter as winningly off-beat and off-kilter as its predecessors, a tender mind-bender about a pair of novelty salesmen on a picaresque journey through Swedish society and history. Sublime and ridiculous in equal measure, it won last year’s Golden Lion at Venice, and little wonder: it’s a salve for the self-sick soul.
