Deftly weaving surrealism with insight into the artistic process, Federico Fellini’s masterpiece was also his most personal. Film director Guido Anselmi  (Marcello Mastroianni) is having serious issues. Feeling intense pressure to complete his latest movie, Guido is encumbered with insecurity and marital problems, causing him to suffer strange nightmares as well as finding escapism through childhood memories. But, like all of us, Guido can’t flee reality. Widely regarded as one of the best films of all time, 8 1/2 is being presented on the Coolidge Corner Theatre’s big screen.
