From afar, EVA LUNDSAGER’s oil paintings read like landscapes, vibrant in hue and collage-like in form. On closer inspection you recognize large swaths of color, clusters of dots and paint dripping in close rows. Whether in vivid yellows and pinks or more subdued tones, her paintings are rapturous, delirious interpretations of a curious world. Lundsager received the Guggenheim Fellowship in Painting in 2003; her work has been featured in publications such as Artforum, Bomb and Art in America. SMFA welcomes Lundsager as part of their ongoing Visiting Artist Lecture Series.
