Went There

NATE YOUNG REGRESSION, CRAOW, SECRET BOYFRIEND, FATHER FINGER (11/9) @ DEEP THOUGHTS JP

by

Electronic night at DEEP THOUGHTS JP record store, serving as a nice weekend cap to the previous two nights of Hassle Fest 6. I got me a copy of that Close to the Edge album by Yes, only $3. Sometimes you gotta choose: slice of pizza, or a fantastic recording? But on to the music. FATHER FINGER opened, sultry singing over her keyboard and drum machine. South Carolina’s CRAOW follows with a nice solid style of hardware electronic wizardry, again with beautiful singing for a real swell performance. Then SECRET BOYFRIEND starts off with an acoustic guitar over some elctronics. He eventually ditches the guitar and takes up this strange instrument which looks like a lawn chair with contact mics hooked up to it (although he later confirmed that it was in fact a drying rack with contact mics hooked up to it). He took his drum sticks and banged the hell out of this rack. Then he held it up in the air and started biting it; CRAZY shit (check the pictures!). Finally NATE YOUNG (whom I’ve seen previosly with Dan’l Boone), puts up a deep, dreamy set, a reprieve from dreadful nightmare scenarios. It all got me thinking some deep thoughts. At Deep Thoughts.
