>LISTEN TO: THE GIRLS

The Girls were some weird punks on the Boston scene around the time of punk’s initial go around. They have a 7″ that came out on Pere Ubu’s label)and was produced by Ubu’s David Thomas), and apparently an LP that came out posthumously that collects their various recording endeavors called REUNION. I’ve never heard that record, but there’s one other recording out there of a live recording @ the Rat from 79′, which is great, and definitely worth trying to hunt down(if I can find my cd, I’ll upload it!). These contemporaries of Mission of Burma were great with melodies, full of punk energy and attitude, and had enough odd subject matter and electronic blipping going on to be called art-punk, or post-punk or something like that. Robin Amos the keyboard player went onto Cul de Sac, and still plays with those post-rockers if you get the chance. one of the coolest bands of the punk era from Boston. Do yourself a favor.
