This bill is packed with great summertime pop and punk, and is 100% worth the trip west to Florence.
TENEMENT, out of Wisconsin, reminds me of my misspent river-swimming youth with their nostalgic pop-punk. UROCHROMES are a spazzier brand of punk than Tenement, and still BIG ZIT is higher-strung still, with frenetic instrumentation stampeding with the singer’s wild-animal growls and yelps. CALIFORNIA X twinkles and sludges through power pop that is at once moody and eminently catchy. DEMON BROTHER balances the night with their heavier sound.
The 13th Floor Music Lounge is a little out of the way for Boston-dwellers, but our fair city is awfully sweaty and smelly this time of year. Get out of town tonight and take in this show. –Josie Grove
