The always active SMFA grad and local photographer SARAH POLLMAN sets two of her projects against each other to see what they say in this pop-up show, Perpetual Care: Photographs by Sarah Pollman. The juxtaposed projects includes Love Notes, which pairs handwritten notes with photographs to create the artist’s own personal history, while her series Father and Mother features gravestones/markers using anonymous names found throughout New England cemeteries. The intimacy of the artist’s own history set against the cryptically memorialized past lives of those buried bring up new questions of lineage and commemoration. Another strong show at this monthly pop-up spot located steps away from the SoWa galleries during their monthly First Fridays.
