Good music can take you outside yourself in strange ways. That is what will happen if you check out these three synth composers at Deep Thoughts tonight.
First up is Crank Sturgeon, making sounds as scary as their namesake fish. Listening feels like being inside a garbage pile being ripped apart by a sentient bulldozer. The mood of Brett Naucke’s work ranges from urgent to playful, priming your brain to take in the unstructured, loose compositions from Chicago-based Quicksails. You’ll feel like a tropical tidepool at a new age retreat, until Billington throws in some fuzzier sounds and changes the mood completely.
Come down to JP tonight, and feel it all. –Josie Grove
