Ruining your suede boots but saving your bum from a slippery fall – salting Boston’s icy roads is something most people don’t think about. ALLISON CEKALA based her MFA thesis exhibition on where exactly the city gets is copious amounts of the rock. Using photography and video, Cekala takes the viewer on a transcontinental journey to the Atacama Desert in Chile to find the birthplace of our road salt. The imagery conveys a world vastly different from the wet winters of Boston, noting the dusty hot winds of the Chilean desert.
Howard Art Project is always a sure fire good show…and this one will also be on display at the Museum of Science from Jan 31st-March 31st.
