Laura

Brattle Theatre

A beautiful young woman named Laura is murdered; as the investigation unfolds, we slowly learn that she may not be the angel she’s made out to be. Sound familiar? David Lynch made no secret of the classic Hollywood influences on Twin Peaks, and Otto Preminger’s 1944 noir masterpiece is a central text in Peakology (the central character here is named Waldo Lydecker; Lynch fans may recall that Agent Cooper visits veterinarian Dr. Lydecker to obtain Waldo the myna bird). It’s also a damn fine movie in its own right. Includes Vincent Price in a rare non-sinister, non-mustachioed (!) role!
