Tonight at the Middle East Upstairs, new in-house booker (and local scene lover) Illegally Blind hosts a night of music to make you shimmy and to hold youself close. Abadabad delivers a gorgeous and dreamy odes that just may re-spark your love of mid-2000s indie rock. Synth serenader St. Nothing, who just released his new EP, Cherry Trees , delivers a stuttering, floating whisp of dark melodies haunted by R&B overtones reminiiscent of the slinkier sides of 80s goth. JP-based Skinny Bones returns (where have ya’ll been?) with their singular brand of skittering pop buoyed by nuanced electro-acoustic experimentation and nervy instrumentation. Allston’s The Symptoms round out the show with heartbroken odes that has the feeling of Grizzly Bear and a less rustic Fleet Foxes. After the fresh hell of 6 feet of snow, feel the warmth and feel the cold with artificial sound and real, unflinching pop music.
