Woah, stop the train….TONIGHT there is a garage-punk, sloppy, funky gathering of slayers and rock sprayers going on at gritty Allstonian oasis O’Briens. Hailing from the fertile Memphis punk scene, EX-CULT plays garage infused static punk sharpened to a razors edge. While hardcore is a clear influence, Ex-Cult isn’t held back by basic convention taking nods from everything from surf to UK post punk. Also lined up are Allston mainstays Idiot Genes laying down their thick riffage and brash drum lines behind Pete Bayko’s scratchy, strained vox. Laying down rep for classic Boston punk and hardcore is Raw Blow whose short bursts of energy BLOW your socks off (see what I did there?). Plus the always gnarly Midriffs supply that whiny, 60’s solo shredding slasher garage that even naysayers can’t deny fucking rips. Stacked show doesn’t even begin to describe this.
