You know, I really, really miss Los Angeles sometimes. Boston is great, but nothing beats careening down pitch-black canyon roads with other terrible drivers just inches away from collision, trying to get to whatever venue has been deemed this month’s best before all the good parking spots are taken. Or going to the beach in March without getting blasted in the face by 25-mph icy winds, tiny rocks and empty cans of Sam Adams. Luckily for me, I can get my LA fix from DIANE COFFEE, hailing from my glitzy-glam homeland (by way of NY) and breathing life into every childhood fantasy I had about the signed photograph of Todd Rundgren above my bed. This glossy, peppy psychedelic pop outfit is just what you need to usher you into springtime. BONG WISH’s lo-fi mystic folk music adds a mysterious edge to the bill, ping-ponging between misty-woods music and gritty garage ditties with ease. Check out their “Songs Under a Minute” release – each sweet-but-brief song packs a better sonic punch than some folks can manage in a full album. ABADABAD, hailing from Allston, are dreaming about a beach just like me; this one is in a perpetual state of 1965, populated by teeny bikinis, dancing teens and surfboarding dreamboats. It sounds like a nice place to be – just like the MIDDLE EAST UPSTAIRS tonight. The show is 18+, $12, and the music starts at 8pm.
