Fresh off getting called “America’s most exciting punk band” by a small NY-based zine called “Rolling Stone,” Providence’s Downtown Boys bring their much-hyped, raucous, queer-positive, bilingual political, take-no-prisoners sound to the newest edition of BREAK THE CHAINS, which calls itself “Boston’s favorite all-ages, all-gender radical dance party featuring nationally touring queer & trans performers.” The all-ages event runs from 6-10 pm at Make Shift Boston, a co-working space and community center downtown, and also features sets from NYC’s bell’s roar, whose new album of soulful synthpop (synthful soulpop?) was released by Tom Morello’s Firebrand label, and the Break the Chains House Band. The party is hosted by local writer, guitarist and activist Evan Greer, and there is a suggested donation of $10-20 which will go to support the touring artists.
