The Balagan Film Series presents a once in a really long while, near complete retrospective of the films of the late avant-garde master, Will Hindle. Recently restored prints of much of Hindle’s output from the 1950s-80s has made this screening possible entirely on his native 16mm format! Hindle was known for crafting sensorially rich, personal films with the aid of intricate analog post-production techniques, including his pioneering work in optical rephotography. Eight of his short films will be presented, including his 30 minute masterpiece from 1969, ‘Watersmith’ (frame enlargment pictured above). Miss this show and risk never experiencing the enveloping beauty of these films again.
