The soothing, romantic filled 1950s title ballad is the perfect contrarian companion piece to David Lynch’s neo-noir fable about suburban kidnapping and sleaze. Inspired by the director’s own experiences growing up in small-town Americana, Kyle MacLachlan portrays a young man briefly returning to his roots only to one day find a paper bag with a human ear in it (?!) that sets him on an investigation leading to a sexually masochistic Isabella Rossellini and Dennis Hopper who has a gas inhalant fetish. You know, that old story.
