Fri, Mar 25 2016 10:00 am - 7:00 pm Free

Paramount Center

On Friday, March 25th, Emerson College will be hosting the 3rd New England Graduate Media Symposium with keynote speaker Laurie Anderson closing the event. NEGMS is an annual, one day event whose purpose is to create an occasion for graduate students to formally present media based work to each other, faculty, and professional colleagues. This year’s event is themed Assembling Bodies: Exchanges in Collaboration and will showcase projects that explore collaboration as a subject. Graduates will present work from a range of disciplines and engage in panel discussions surrounding collaborative methods of artistic production that raise questions about process, community engagement, agency, authorship and conflict. Their objective is to challenge how we think about various models and theoretical frameworks relating to collaboration and to create the opportunity for new approaches to be shared with a larger community. Moderators include international artists and faculty including Mary Sherman, director of the Transcultural Exchange Conference, Mark Cooper from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Jan Roberts Breslin, Dean of Graduate Studies at Emerson. The event will take place at the Paramount Mainstage located at 559 Washington Street, Boston MA. Admission is free and graduate students with a valid ID will be given priority.
