We encourage those living in the New England area to recognize this history\, unlearn the fictions taught to us in our youth\, and participate in National Day of Mourning\, organized by UAINE (held every fourth Thursday of Nov. in Plymouth). \nRespect the spaces and the folx around you. No alcohol is allowed in any of the spaces so please help keep the shows a sober space\, we are renting spaces and want to keep a good relationship with this spaces so we can continue organizing with them. Smoking is also not allowed in the spaces so please go outside. No cops. No terfs. No boneheads. \n**DAY 1 @ TBD**\nThis space is not wheelchair accessible. \n**DAY 2 @ The DC**\nThe Democracy Center is partially wheelchair accessible\, no accessible bathroom on site. The Mandela\, Parks\, and Chavez rooms are accessible\, but the Library is not. Wheelchair users are welcome to use the accessible restroom at Daedalus while we plan our improvements for bathroom accessibility. To reach that bathroom\, exit the ramp and turn left on Bow St\, at the next building (Daedalus) use their accessible entrance and their restroom will be on the right. \nMore information at: democracycenter.org/accessibility.\nContact info@democracycenter.org or 617-492-8855 as needed. \nThe DC strives to provide a safe(r) space for all ages\, drug free benefit shows with an emphasis on DIY ethics. We ask that everyone who attends and plays here be aware of the language they use and how it might affect others; racist\, sexist\, heterosexist\, transphobic\, ableist\, or otherwise oppressive attitudes are not welcome. Please hold each other accountable so that all who come to the DC feel supported and\nwelcome. \n**DAY 3 @ CCC**\nGym is wheelchair accessible but restrooms in building are not. We’re looking into what are the options immediately around the area. \nSheer Queer Fest is an annual queer music fest in Boston. We seek to showcase the voices and work of queer folk who create loud\, aggressive\, experimental\, and angry music that challenge racism\, transphobia\, ableism\, classism\, xenophobia\, misogyny\, and other forms of oppression. \nFunds raised by this fest are used to support our community members and the efforts by activists or organizations to address the issues our intersecting communities face. We hope to build a community centered in radical action to reclaim space in radical/DIY spaces to celebrate all forms of queerness.

SUMMARY:Mark Fell with Alec Toku Whiting / Jake Meginsky solo
DESCRIPTION:Non-Event and the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture present Concrete Sounds: Multichannel Experimental Electronics in Boston City Hall \nMARK FELL (electronics) with ALEC TOKU WHITING (koto)\n((24 channel piece))\nJAKE MEGINSKY (percussion\, electronics)\n((quad)) \nBoston City Hall\nMezzanine Level (enter on Congress Street\, First floor)\nOne City Hall Plaza\, Boston\nFREE (RSVP requested) \nAbout the artists \nMARK FELL is a Rotherham-based electronic musician\, multidisciplinary artist\, and producer whose work has persistently challenged the boundaries between dance music and academic computer music practices. Having studied experimental film and video at Sheffield’s notorious Psalter Lane art school at the onset of the city’s techno era (circa 1990)\, Fell’s approach is equally grounded in the theory and practice of experimental film\, radical philosophy and the electronic music subcultures surrounding house and techno. Since his early genre-defining explorations of minimal techno with Mat Steel as SND in the late 90’s\, Fell’s practice moved into a period of complex dynamic works such as Multistability (Raster-Noton\, 2010) and Sentielle Objectif Actualité (Editions Megs\, 2012)\, and more recently into explorations of interplay between algorithmic systems and acoustic performance\, typically including choreographic and text based elements. Widely acknowledged for his unique contributions to electronic music and sound art\, Fell’s work has been presented at a wide variety of institutions and festivals around the world\, marking him out as a distinctive voice in contemporary art and music. \nALEC TOKU WHITING is a composer\, improviser\, and multi-instrumentalist based in Somerville\, Massachusetts. Primarily a koto player\, his improvisatory approach is rooted in his experiences studying avant-garde music for the instrument while growing up in Yokohama\, Japan. His technique foregrounds the manipulation of timbre and its relationship to physical gesture. As a composer Alec’s work results from the investigation and synthesis of abstract formal processes and intuitive structures in pursuit of a multiplicitous musical event. His music has been performed in the United States\, France\, Spain\, and Australia and he has collaborated with musicians including the Mivos Quartet\, Wendy Eisenberg\, Ted Reichman\, Jeff Cox\, Jan Williams\, Carlos Cordeiro\, and Alex Greffin-Klein. \nElectronic musician\, percussionist\, composer\, and filmmaker JAKE MEGINSKY has collaborated and performed with such artists as Milford Graves\, Alvin Lucier\, Joan Labarbara\, Kim Gordon\, Vic Rawlings\, Greg Kelley\, Bhob Rainey\, Joe McPhee\, Thurston Moore\, William Parker\, Daniel Carter\, Paul Flaherty\, Arthur Brooks\, Bill Nace\, and John Truscinski. \nMusic critic David Keenan called Meginsky’s 2014 solo record\, L’appel Du Vide\, “a hallucinatory electro percussion masterpiece” and in the WIRE Magazine review of the album\, Nick Cain wrote\, “the album uses little more than a couple of sounds\, extracting often head spinning complexity from a minimum of means.” Art In America Magazine says\, “Meginsky’s digital concrète takes percussion to outer extremes.” He lives in western Massachusetts. \n** Thanks to Genelec USA\, MOTU\, and iZotope for their support of this event** \nThis program is supported in part by grants from the Boston Foundation and the Boston Cultural Council\, a local agency which is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council\, administrated by the Mayor’s Office of Arts + Culture.

SUMMARY:Boston Emerging Artists Closing Night
DESCRIPTION:Yes! The Two Thangs painting featuring John Waters and Mr. Rogers is up at Scollay Square Gallery on the third floor of Boston City Hall. The closing reception is on September 19th from 6-8 and I’d be more than thrilled if you’d join me as I’ll be busting out the fanciest suit I’ve got for this one. Anyone and everyone is invited to attend and please say hi to me and we can talk (or Slang Thangs as I like to call it). Who knows\, maybe even Mr. Waters himself will show up??? (odds are very slim) \nAfter the ceremony (from 6-8)\, we will be heading over to Biddy Early’s for some celebratory steak tips and I’ll even buy a round if I win best in show!

SUMMARY:Tender/Feral: Color Palettes and Duality
DESCRIPTION:We are so excited about our next art show coming up in the galleries at Dorchester Art Project ! \nTender/Feral is a collaborative exhibition\, curated by and featuring KENN CRESTWELL and MITHSUCA BERRY. \nTender/Feral is an homage to the duality that exists in the black experience. It explores what it means to practice radical softness as well as raw intensity. Blackness is multidimensional\, it’s deep\, it’s rich\, and it holds so many shades. How does one use color to bring that infinity to life? \nKenn Crestwell\nwww.instagram.com/figbeeeeee \nMithsuca Berry\nwww.instgram.com/mythsooka \nJoin us for the opening reception\, on September 14 from 7-10pm. After party by SASKIAS till 2am. \nGallery Hours are Saturday and Sunday thru October 12 from 12-6pm.
