Well PANICSVILLE is on tour from Chicago celebrating 25 years making demented sounds (and visuals) underground and they are the guest of honor tonight playing their set at the end of an insane round robin featuring experimental grind and metal matchmakers DIVA KARR\, the ultra-engaging\, heavily propped performance artist known as CRANK STURGEON\, the defiant\, crushing groovy rock of YAHKEL\, electronic trash floor-dwelling noise duo S NICAENUM\, menacing eulogy tunes of MANES PROPHET (VT)\, freaky mathed-out aggro rock from SERVICE and the band +DOG+ (that/s spelled with plus signs)\, is actually noise\, is not actually a band and has been making fucked up shit for 20 years. SUMMARY:E\, Crown Larks (Chicago)\, Gold Dime (Brooklyn)\, and Chris Brokaw Rock Band
DESCRIPTION:If you’re a fan of loud and emotionally complex indie guitar music with a swell\, then the last hump day of summer need not be a bummer. At the Midway in JP\, we got not one but two ex-members of Boston legends Come strutting their newest stuff\, with a couple of excellent acts from the two big cities keeping the night wonderful in between ‘em (the night is like a Come sandwich\, or maybe its on Come bread?). E\, is Thalia Zedek’s latest project and the band is as powerful as all get out\, every piece so beautifully in place that you didn’t even realize you’d been grabbed by the neck and shoved up against the wall. Brooklyn’s Gold Dime\, the nom de rock of singular drummer/singer Andrya Ambro\, (ex- Talk Normal) pumps heavy melodic bass and rhythms through a gorgeous squall of guitar sound. Ambro’s lyrics are artfully delivered and carry a heavy psychological content that is always compelling. Crown Larks are from Chicago and while there are certainly times that great city’s musical stamp is fortunately evident\, they’re also easily the most prettily autumnal of the night’s fair\, wet leaves on a bough\, dude. Herter Park is one of the most beautiful parks one can find along the Charles River\, and it’s within walking distance of both Harvard Square and Allston Village. And it’s all FREE and open to the general public.\n\n\n\nOn 9/19 we have Ed Balloon\, offering up his avant RnB for the masses. He’ll be stoking your curiosity and next thing you know your dancing in the aisles. The night’s second perfomer is Tory Silver\, who takes a fresh look at various strains of indie rock\, pulling together some of the good ones\, and leaving us with a beautiful batch of fuzzy tunes all her own. The first performer of the evening are another curious Boston band with a pop sound rooted in prog notions. Above Ground Basement they are called and some may call it grunge\, or alternative rock\, but I’d rather just call it good\, dynamic\, inventive songwriting.\n\n\n\nThis is a great chance for you to catch a thrifty glimpse of the Boston area’s unique\, and flourishing independant music community!! Myocastor Coypus are newer Boston area band that\nshred strangely and this is of course what makes them a new heavy favorite for\nus locals. DESCRIPTION:Dreamscape is our recurring musical seance. Taking place in the spiritual Hope Central Church right up from Green Street Station in the heart of JP\,  Dreamscape  #11 is going to be an exorcize in acoustic and electronic soundscapin’. Our guests of honor this evening are House and Land\, the duo of Sally Anne Morgan (fiddle\, shruti box\, banjo\, vocals) and Sarah Louise Henson (vocals\, 12-string guitar\, shruti box\, bouzouki) honing traditional music often lost on “kids today” which is reason enough for us to perpetuate. Also pulling on the heartstrings of simpler times are locals Rob Noyes (coming from across the river) on guitar and Audrey Harrer (strolling up the street) on harp both of whom will fill the pulpit with incendiary picking\, plucking and strummin’. On the other end of the spectrum CLOTH and Anda Volley will unleash similarly gorgeous dream-themes from the confines of various metal and plastic boxes\, synths\, computers\, whatehaveyou. Their electronic offerings both ambient and engaging will go perfectly with VIDUMAMI’s visuals\, casting broad strokes of color and life all over the walls of this big beautiful room.
