DESCRIPTION:Micah Danemayer left this plane of existence in the Ghostship fire in Oakland. Micah lived in Somerville and attended Massachusetts College of Art where he became an integral part of the underground music scene; his infectious enthusiasm spawned many local collaborations. After graduating from the SIM program in 2011\, he moved to the Bay Area where he immersed himself in the production and promotion of his and other artists music. After Micah’s passing his parents set up a memorial scholarship at MassArt in his name. SUMMARY:FRIGS with Weeping Icon\, Leopard Print Taser\, Service
DESCRIPTION:Toronto’s FRIGS come back to Boston this early march with their precise\, springy sludge. They clearly have a lot of energy but they dont let it take anything away from their dark\, lethargic rock sprawl. They possess the rightful angst of our generation and every member in the band shows the hell up for a dynamic rinsing of fast and slow offerings. That’s why we thought we’d bring WEEPING ICON up from NYC for this one. Been wanting to get this fiery foursome up for a minute and we thought them the perfect fit for this uniquely nihilistic bill. Pushing punk around in different directions is hard enough and to push it towards noise while simultaneously layering harmonizing haunting vocals is just downright impressive. Psyched for them to get a load of SERVICE and LEOPARD PRINT TASER too because these two groups are living proof that the troupes of the future are being born in Boston sewers too. First caught LPT at HF9 and I long to be post-punched in the face by their alternative dream punk again. SERVICE came through Jeanie Johnston last week and their entwined guitar riffs held us all in awe like goddamn marionetes surrounded by exceptionally heavy grooves. It was awesome.  There will definitely be some shoe-gazing going on too but less so on the stage and more so in the back corner of OBs. DESCRIPTION:Imagine my surprise to facebook-search stumble upon a tour that TRIM and CHS DogHospice did together in 2016. Boy do I feel like a chump now having asked our Western MA/PVD friends here what their project is all about. CHS is Providence noise project of Christian M of the incredible Goon Planet (probably tons of other shit over the years too..). DogHospice is the one and only Sam Hadge the show booking\, scene documenting king freak of Cold Spring Hollow. They come together in a free form noise fest duo that couldnt be paired better than with the likes of TRIM. Lunatic on drums\, lunatic on noise: It’s a recipe for a chill ass show at our new space. Plus we are very excited to see Duendecitos\, ever since they came in and handed a pile of CD’Rs to us at the record store and asked us to give them away. We did and thats exactly what its all about – making this chaos accessible to anyone who will tolerate it. Find such kindred spirits tonight and enjoy together some shit that most people think is unlistenable. Makes us like it all the better. DESCRIPTION:A god-forsaken mixed up gig. KTB is the duo of Bugs And Rats’ Shawnie Brando and Guerilla Toss’ Arian Shafiee. It is a bit gruesome especially for a two-some\, dominating your ears with a crushing\, pulsing drum-machine and free-tom foundation to support a wild\, squealing grudge match between the most unique vocals and guitar riffs you have ever heard. You will then be bludgeoned by those wicked locals NICE GUYS’ high energy\, nasty ROCK which is a totally therapeutic experience for those who dont know yet (get with the program). To ease us into the brutality will be mysterious bag-of-tricks noise crew SCUM which you might recognize if you scrape the bottom of your shoes after walking around JP but not in any fancy music mag or anything. Then there’s GOBBY – highly prolific\, extremely unpredictable DFA recording artist who happens to be from and currently live in brookline who will walk over to deep thoughts (or ask me for a ride) with his electronic drum kit and some sort of Mp3 trigger to deliver his deranged beats and practically pop music ditties to YOU. DAP welcomes Allison Maria Rodriguez \nQuickening the Dust\nRekindling our Living Link\nDates: February 3 – February 23\, 2018\nThe Dorchester Art Project’s Inaugural Artist-in-Residence Exhibition\nfeaturing the work of interdisciplinary artist Allison Maria Rodriguez \nOpening Reception: Saturday\, February 3rd\, 6pm – 9pm \nOpening Reception Special Guest: OFF LAND – with a live improvisational performance in response to Rodriguez’s work and the space at 8pm – \nResonance by Off Land \nRodriguez is an interdisciplinary artist who works predominantly in video installation and new media. This solo exhibition will feature her current body of work on species extinction\, climate change and political agency. Rodriguez’s work touches on the limitations of language and offers experiential methods for reconnecting with other species and our planet. She is the grand prize winner of the Human Impact Institute’s 2017 Creative Climate Awards and a 2018 Earthwatch Fellow.
